Vinglacé Wine Chiller Product Review

As you experience the heat of the summer, it may be challenging to keep your wine chilled while enjoying a picnic or while poolside. This Vinglacé wine chiller might just be the answer.

The creators of Vinglacé are from Texas and developed this product because they wanted to keep their wine chilled while in the hot Texas sun.

I decided to take a closer look at this chiller to see if it really lived up to their claims of keeping wine chilled at the perfect serving temperature for hours. While I was at it, I evaluated these 5 criteria listed here:

• Vinglacé is a stainless steel, double-walled wine chiller. There are two similar products on the market currently (that I could find): Huski Wine Cooler and Swig Wine Insulator. These are priced 10-20% less than Vinglacé. Because of this, Vinglacé loses a star on the Price criteria. However, Vinglacé makes up for it with its sleek design that, in my opinion, is much better than its competitors. Let’s talk more about aesthetics next!

#2 Aesthetic

Rating: 5/5

• This is where Vinglacé really shines. They have gorgeous color options from Summer-y pastel pink and sea glass to sophisticated rose gold and silver. The stainless steel is sleek and seamless. You have an option to engrave the chiller making it a great gift for weddings, birthdays, or other special occasions. It arrives in packaging that is perfect for gift giving. It’s minimalist, sleek, and has a way of making you feel like you’ve received something really special.

#3 Ease of Use

Rating: 4.5/5 So it looks good, but is it easy to use? To answer this question, I tested a few different factors. I gave each factor a rating and rolled it up to an overall rating for Ease of Use.

Ease of opening & closing: 5/5

• The lid easily screws off the chilling base and easily screws back on, even with a wine bottle in place.

Fit for different bottle sizes: 5/5

• Standard white, red, and champagne bottles fit perfectly. (See Champagne bottle in chiller below.) The occasional odd sized wine bottle may not fit. I happened to have a Miraval Rose that is in a super unique bottle. It’s pretty squat and nearly round and would not fit in the chiller.

• The lid has a rubber opening that easily conforms to different sized bottle necks.

• The lid has substantial room to screw onto the chiller which allows for different bottle heights. For tall bottles, for example, the lid screws down part way and still holds the bottle securely.

Easy to pick up and pour: 4.5/5

• The chiller itself is actually pretty light. Once a bottle of wine is added, the weight plus the size of the chiller makes it just slightly tougher to manage. The chiller is 13” around (outside measurement) and a standard bottle of white is 10” around. I think it really comes down to the size of your hands. I am able to pour with one hand, and I’ve found I can get a good grip if I position my fingers over the brand name which is on the flat part of the chiller. Another option is to pour by holding the neck of the bottle. This eliminates the above issues. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Gripper base – to prevent sliding: 5/5

• It has a nice rubbery base which keeps it from potentially sliding around and keeps it from clanking when setting it down.

• It also has a nice rubbery base on the inside which helps keep the bottle from moving around once inside the chiller.

Sweat-proof sides: 5/5

• The Vinglacé does not sweat on the sides. This ensures you’ll have a good grip without slipping when pouring the wine.

#4 Ease of Care

Rating: 5/5

It’s so important that products are easy to care for, that they look good while in use and are easy to clean up. I considered 2 factors for this criteria.

Finger print-proof: 5/5

• I tested the stainless steel copper chiller and it does not leave any fingerprints on the outside. It keeps its nice sleek appearance.

Easy clean up: 5/5

• Like with most double-walled water bottles on the market, the Vinglacé is not to be placed in the Dishwasher. Since this is a wine chiller, the clean-up is pretty minimal. You may occasionally need to wipe down the chiller and lid. They recommend using warm soapy water when needed.

#5 Lives Up to Claims

The main claim and function of the Vinglacé is to keep wine chilled at the perfect serving temperature for hours. Let’s see how it stood up to my test.

Claim - Keeps wine at the perfect temperature for hours:

• I conducted a test to see how well the Vinglacé kept wine chilled. I tested its performance in direct sun for 3 hours and in shade for 3 hours. In addition, I compared its performance to a bottle in a chill sleeve (ice pack sleeve) which was also placed in the direct sun and shade for 3 hours. Given that the best white wine serving temperatures are anywhere from 41 degrees Fahrenheit for sparkling wine up to 55 degrees for Chardonnay, I started the test somewhat in the middle at 49 degrees. Vinglacé shade vs sun: Let’s first look at how the wine in the Vinglacé performed in the shade vs the direct sun. After 3 hours in the 84-degree shade, the wine warmed up from 49 degrees to 54 degrees Fahrenheit. This is still within white wine serving temperatures. After 3 hours in 98-degree direct sun, it warmed to 57 degrees Fahrenheit just slightly above ideal serving temperatures. Chill sleeve shade vs sun: Now let’s look at how the wine in the chill sleeve performed in the shade vs the direct sun. After 3 hours in the 84-degree shade, the wine warmed up from 49 degrees to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. After 3 hours in the 98-degree direct sun, it warmed to a very warm 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Result: From this test, it’s clear that the chiller holds up to the claim of keeping wine chilled for hours. And let's face it, most will drink the wine within 1-2 hours. I went with a 3-hour test to really see how it held up.

Venture out this summer with confidence that your wine will stay chilled and it’ll look great in this Vinglacé wine chiller. We have the chiller and the insulated wine glasses and they honestly work super well. I’ve even stopped myself from walking onto our deck with a regular wine glass. Instead, I take a moment to use the Vinglacé insulated wine glasses because I hate when my wine warms up too fast. It works that well!

We like these so much that we’ve given the wine chiller to friends for their wedding and the insulated wine glasses to friends living in Alabama and Texas because we know how hot their summers can be.
